There’s still no evidence Barbara Walters wrote this about Jane Fonda
Facebook users are again resharing an old missive that’s critical of actress Jane Fonda and, according to the post, attributed to former ABC News journalist Barbara Walters.
We debunked a similar post in October. Now, this nearly identical May 2018 post is getting heavy traffic. It’s been shared more than 540,000 times and it was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook.)
The post details allegations against Fonda that other fact-checkers have looked into. But it begins by claiming that Barbara Walters wrote it.
"Barbara Walters writes: Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still countless others have never known how Ms. Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country but specific men who served and sacrificed during the Vietnam War."
