Story about TikTok dances to help Ukraine is satire

If Your Time is short

  • This story originated on a satire site.

Some social media users sounded astounded by a headline recently circulating on Instagram.

"Here’s 5 TikTok dances you can do to help Ukraine fight Russia," it said.

"TikTok dances?? Y’all can’t be serious," a Twitter account said about the story.

An Instagram post sharing a screenshot of the tweet was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

We found the March 1 story on Cinch News. Other headlines on the site were suspicious — "It’s time to abolish gendered days," for example. A "Why" section confirmed Cinch is "a satirical publication."
