No, Trump didn’t say Queen Elizabeth II secretly knighted him
If Your Time is short
- A screenshot of a Truth Social post by Donald Trump saying Queen Elizabeth II secretly knighted him isn’t authentic.
Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to express his condolences about the death of Queen Elizabeth II, but he didn’t claim that the queen had secretly knighted him, as an image circulating online suggests.
"I never told anybody but she knighted me in private," reads the text in what appears to be a screenshot of a Truth Social post from @realDonaldTrump.
Instagram posts sharing the image were flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)
We found no evidence Trump posted this. It’s not in his Truth Social feed, and although we found a post from another user claiming that Trump shared that message, there’s nothing to corroborate that.
