Hillary Clinton wasn’t indicted, despite nonsense online claims
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wasn’t indicted, but a recent Facebook post claims otherwise.
"Hillary Clinton INDICTED as Rand Paul REVEALS shocking evidence EXPOSING her," reads the caption on a 12-minute video in the April 7 post.
It was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)
We found no court records, news reports or other credible sources to corroborate that Clinton was indicted. She also remains active on social media, though not tweeting or posting about the indictment alleged in this Facebook dispatch.

The post’s video provides no evidence for this claim or for its assertion that Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., reveals shocking evidence about Clinton. Rather, it shows three video clips. In the first, from August 2016, Paul said about Clinton "I think an indictment would be a good idea, followed by a prison sentence."

The second, also from August 2016, shows Paul on Fox News reiterating that sentiment and criticizing the FBI’s decision to not recommend charges against Clinton for using a private email system when she was leading the State Department. The third clip doesn’t even feature Paul, but shows Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, also discussing Clinton’s emails.
