Story about Jason Aldean suing Whoopi Goldberg originated on a satire site
"The View" co-host Whoopi Goldberg recently criticized country singer Jason Aldean for a music video that some have said evokes lynching, but a subsequent claim that Aldean sued her originated on a satire site.
"Whoopi Goldberg panics after losing everything after lawsuit," reads the text above a TikTok shared on Facebook.
The video’s narrator says: "A news outlet reported that Jason plans to sue Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar from ‘The View’ after being called racist in the show. News publication the Dunning-Kruger Times published an article titled ‘Jason Aldean files defamation suit against Whoopi and The View.’"

The Dunning-Kruger Times did publish that story, but it’s also a self-described satire site that posts fake news.

We searched news stories, court filings or other credible sources to corroborate the post’s claim, but found no evidence that Aldean sued Goldberg, or anyone from "The View," in the real world.

The video also referred to an old, debunked claim that Kyle Rittenhouse, who was acquitted of criminal charges in a fatal 2020 shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, sued Goldberg. That, too, originated on a self-described satire site.
We rate this post False.
