There’s no CNN report saying Joe Biden’s family confirmed he died

If Your Time is short

  • The video was posted in 2022 by a TikTokker with a satirical account.

  • CNN has made no such news report.

A video viewed thousands of times on Facebook claims to have legitimate breaking news from CNN.

"Biden’s Family Admit He Died and Was Replaced By an Actor in 2019| CNN BREAKING NEWS - September 07, 2023," its caption says.

Two problems: CNN did not report this and, no, President Joe Biden’s family has made no such admission. Biden lives.

This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

In the video, the narrator spins a narrative that Biden may be a "puppet leader" for the "globalist elite" and cites a supposed "bombshell admission" from one of Biden’s granddaughters — that Biden died in 2019.

As proof, the video cuts to a clip of a woman who said Biden, her grandfather, has a twin who is now in the White House.

If this sounds ridiculous, maybe that’s because it was intended to be. In 2022, we debunked the same claim that this video showed Biden’s granddaughter supposedly describing the president’s demise and secret portrayal by his twin. The original video was posted June 11, 2022, not by Biden’s granddaughter, but by "Kass Theaz," a TikTokker with a self-described "satire account."

We found no reports from CNN — nor by any other reputable media outlets — that said Biden’s family admitted he died and was replaced by an actor in 2019.

We rate this claim Pants on Fire!
