Edd Houck
R. Edward "Edd" Houck, D-Spotsylvania, served in the Virginia Senate from 1984 to 2012, representing the 17th District. Houck was born in Smyth County, Virginia. He attended public schools in Smyth County and received his bachelor's of science Degree in Education from Concord College, Athens, W.V., and his masters in education from the University of Virginia. Houck worked in the public school system for 34 years, starting as a middle school science teacher in Spotsylvania County, guidance counselor, assistant principal, and the director of student services for Fredericksburg City Public Schools. He retired in 2007.
